Thanked: 4821first honing successful
I have an old razor that I believe was my great grandfathers. I have been slowly cleaning it up. I finished honing it yesterday. It shaved great. I'm pretty happy I was able to get it shaving seeing as how it has uneven hone where on the spine. I think at some point I may try to correct that but for today it's a happy shave!

Thanked: 26Yeah. People make honing sound real esoteric. It's mostly rubbing steel on stone, a lot, and the secret, if you can call it that, is just don't make a single mistake and you'll get there eventually. You should feel good about doing it right.
