Thanked: 0Paper wheel sharpening
Can you use a paper wheel to sharpen these if you're careful? I might have my first straight razor on the way. My girlfriends mom night have bought me one!

theoretically possible but needlessly difficult and easy to muck up.
Razors are best honed on flat media since you simply lay the razor flat on the stone. The bevel geometry is set by the razor itself, unlike a knife that must be sharpened with the spine raised off the stone.

Besides the reasons already stated, I would be worried about heat.
I've seen people shaving with knives on youtube, and yeah they can do it. But a "shave sharp" knife edge, looks to me anyways, several degrees below the level of sharp and smooth that we want in a straight razor.

Considering that the Vid shows an edge on approach from what I can see, I expect a huge explosion of shattered steel.. If you go edge down I expect a burned temper, what I do not see happening in either direction is a shave ready edge
If there was an easy way to hone trust me I would have figured it out long ago![]()
