Dunno but I thought the OP was referring to scratches above the bevel ? The only way I know to avoid scratches on the bevel is don't hone it ...... or don't look at it ....

Thanked: 13226On the blade face, the guys above answered that the same way I would have, a slight Mis-cue while honing, perhaps a slight Mis-grind on the razor, or some errant grit from the hone..
According to one of the laws of Restore this will usually happen when you have achieved a near perfect finish on the razor
This thread started to drift into the Mirror Bevel discussion also, many apologies for taking it even farther my friendLast edited by gssixgun; 03-22-2013 at 02:44 PM.

Thanked: 4941I suspect the scratches you are talking about are above the bevel and running vertical into it. In most cases with either the 1K or the 4K, when swarf build up while you are honing and you use a lot of pressure, you can get these little scratch marks. The solution is usually to either rinse off the swarf as you go and or to use a little less pressure. In most cases these little scratches are barely visible and more of an annoyance than anything else as they usually do not negatively effect the honing that you have done.
Have fun.
