Slurry stone
What could I use as a cheap slurry stone on a 1 k king? I have a dmt 325 could I use this and how do U do it? Stupid question maybe i read a old post by glen that just states rub the dmt in a few figure 8s on the stone and goto work without washing the stone off and as u get close to setting the bevel u dilute the water is this correct?

I rarely use slurry on a 1k, unless I have serious work to do. If I do slurry on a 1k, I always rub it with something finer. Usually a cuticular slurry stone. The main reason is that 1k grit is big, and, especially on heavy grind razors, you'll get scratches up from the bevel where the slurry rides along the face of the blade.
If you want 1k slurry, anything hard and finer than the 1k can be used. If you want slurry from the other stone, to use a soft one so it breaks down more than the 1k. That being said, the king is pretty soft for a 1k.
And whatever you do, keep the slurry really thin. Then just water as soon as you are close to having the bevel set.

Thanked: 2591Anything that is harder then the King, and does not release particles in the the slurry making process. Your 325 will do fine.
