king hone
I received this with a lot of razors I won on flea boy I managed to salvage two complete razors and one handle ,in the lot was this hone and old leather pouch
the hone looks in pretty good nick ,on the black side it says king razor mfg co Indiana Pa
on the red side it says king midas barber hone special
I have a couple of questions 1 anyone know of these ?
2 are they any good?
3 which side is the cutting and which is the finishing
Any help with these questions will be greatly appreciated

On my Dubl Duck hone, the dark gray side is cutting and the brown side is finishing. If you've got a microscope you can verify this on yours by comparing scratch patterns from the two sides.

The stone I have belonged to my grandfather born in 1886.
It has a recessed oval on the redish sidel that says King Midas Hone KING RAZOR MFG.CO. Indiana PA.
The stone measurs 5-1/2 x 2" . dark on the roughing side redish on the finishing side.
Pouch is in very good condition with the snap intact.
