I had a nice visit today with anthogia. We started with some basic hone maintenance. Then I honed one of his blades while explaining technique and sharing my honing philosophy along the way. I also gave him some pointers on honing and some exercises to practice at home. He has a good foundation and seems like a good learner. No doubt he will quickly have success.

It was also fun seeing his (growing) collection or razors and stones. He let me try out his jnat and his 8k naniwa. I may have to pick up one each for myself!

So a good time was had by all. I really like one on one sessions like that and it's always great to help a new member.

Just wanted to post a big thank you to Mike (mjsorkin) for his hospitality and his time! I finally learned a bit about honing and wanted to really let everyone know what a standup guy and a great teacher Mike was. He didn't just yes me to death he actually pointed out what I was doing right but most importantly what I was doing wrong. I learned alot and am grateful to Mike and all of you guys on SRP who've helped me in the last few weeks! Thanks Mike! Sorry it took so long to post!

There is absolutely nothing like seeing hone a razor! It is great that you got someone to show you a couple of things.
