Joining the choir, it depends on the stone, bigger ones stay in the holder, while I hold the smaller ones in my hand.

I like hand holding but I am not adept enough to do that. Meaning I tend to let my thoughts drift when I hold the stone vs on a table.
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

For full size hones depending on where I hone I either hold in hand(sink), or on a towel (table)Stefan

Same here!
Bigger ones usually on the table and small ones in hand but it varies with hones and mood.
Some days it feels like you could hold it between your feet hanging up side down and still hone a perfect edge, other days I know not to touch a hone!Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.
