    Default Honing out this chip

I'm very excited about this W.R. Case & Sons Ek-Seb I just picked up. I'm nuts about green scales and I collect PA razors. Could you give me any tips on honing out this chip? I'm using a norton 4k/8k and a nice old barber hone.

It's hard to tell how big the chip is in the photo, but it looks like you could work it out on the 4k by doing circles or stroke it as normal, watching the progress with a loop.

Just time and patience, pressure like you were resetting the bevel.
More pressure won't hurry it a long in a good way,
if you watch the progression do a few more laps once you can not see it under magnification.
It should be a great shaver when you are done, nice looking find!
    It is just Whisker Whacking
    Relax and Enjoy!

From the pic I would say that is not a bad chip. A 1k would be nice but a 4k will do, just take longer. If it were mine I would tape the spine and do circles until the chip was all but gone. Then switch to the pyramid method shown in the SRP library and numerous videos.

I see a pretty ruff edge with a few small chips. You may have a long road ahead and maybe not. Just keep it even and keep at it. I would do what Jimmy said.

I would add ,,, a loop would come in handy to watch what your doing.

Tape and a loupe would be a good investment.

Should hone out no problem, as others have said a 4K should do the trick but will take a while, I would take it to a 1K stone and work up from there.

Folks are afraid of working on the 1k stone unecessarily, hone out the chip and nothing more, whether that is done on the 1k, 4k, 8k the same amount of steel will be removed-only the time will change.

A loupe is a must IMO

Tape is a whole different argument
