Thread: Do I Use Tape on a 12k Touchup?

If a razor was honed with tape and I'm doing a touchup on a 12k, do I tape it?

I would for sure, thats why i keep a little book on how i honed each razor with what worked, stones, touch-up, tape etc

If I honed the razor with tape, I touch up with tape.

I meant to put this thread under "Honing" and not under "Advanced Honing Topics."

If you have a bunch of razors (not that I do or anything like that!) and hone them yourself, it is crucial to keep a log of what you've done with them in terms of honing progressions and results. This is not only so you remember to use tape or not use it (although I would never do anything like that!), but also because you can review the log to determine which progressions and finishers seemed to provide the best results.

The bulk of it is red and they tend to hoard it in D.C..

I'll move it though either location is fine. As everyone else said, if it was honed with tape stick with it (no pun) unless you want to start from square one.

I hate tape! But if you use it as everyone said you definitely need it to touch up on the 12k or any other hone for that matter.
