Default Synthetic hone shopping in Japan/Tokyo.

My aunt will be going to Japan sometime in the near future and she'll be on the lookout for some hones that I've been meaning to buy.

    I'm interested in getting a Naniwa superstone 8k, a Chosera 1k, a Shapton glass stone (8k or 16k) or a Suehiro Gokumyo 20k.

My aunt doesn't plan her trips ahead, she just gets a plane ticket and goes but she thinks that she'll probably stay in Tokyo, and if she picks Tokyo she'll maybe be in central Tokyo, where can you can you get these stones there? I'm guessing that cutlery stores might carry them.

I live over in Okinawa, which isn't exactly Tokyo, but same region I guess. Of all the places I have seen that sell stones, I rarely see anything over a 6k. But then again, Okinawa is a very small island.

You could also ask your aunt to stop by "Ne no Hi" (子の日) in Tsukiji; that's central Tokyo, and they carry several synthetic hones. I bought a Shapton glass 16,000 from them a few months back; though the glass stone series had already been discontinued, it seems they still had some in stock, despite there website not showing them anymore.

Also, though people go to Morihei for Morihei-san's naturals, he also recently made some synthetics which are about 9,000 grit: 繧ォ繝ゥ繧ケ莉穂ク翫£逾遏ウ縲莠コ騾 : 譽ョ蟷ウ

Thanks, my sister(who studied in Japan briefly during uni) told me that Kappabashi is the cutlery street in Tokyo, I'm having a little trouble with the map you linked but from google maps I gather that Tsukiji is in the same general area as Kappabashi.

That's a Shame about the Shaptons, I hadn't heard about that before.
I guess I'll have to try and get one or two before they become hot collectibles.
