No kidding there are allot that I definitely wouldn't waist my money on. The comment about the $49 was that they where there not necessarily that I was considering them. I did see some that where allot more that looked nice. I'll just have to save up a bit to get a good one. I hesitate to buy anything on Ebay but for some reason I'm always window shopping there. I'd much rather find someone here that is selling one.

I don't see the big deal about Japanese straights. They all look so primitive and unrefined to me. What am I missing? Hence the only things I like Japanese are the women, the sake, the sushi ,and the vintage takana's. Oh yes and in that order.

The deal is that they shave really really REALLY well..!

They take an unbelievably sharp but smooth edge, and theres also the variety in the style of use between Western straights and Japanese ones.

I love mine, and I'll never sell it. Its a sweet shaver!

I just may have to treat myself to a Japanese straight in the future. There really is so much to love about Japanese products. They have a reputation for being meticulously great at everything they take the time to do.

You're missing the little switch in your brain that says "I don't need to post everything I think."

    Question

Jim please don't misunderstand me. I love the Japanese culture with a passion. Lived in Shibuya Tokyo for 2 yrs. Just my style to be frank about my opinions. Please accept my apology to your sensitivity. No disrespect intended. Does anyone have mire pics of these Japanese straights? I've only seen ones that only look like the blade without scales. Is this not uncomfortable to manage in the hands?

    Caveat emptor.
Some pretty sad examples on eBay atm.

Modine let me use his at the mid-MO get together and I was HOOKED!

I bought one when I got home and have been using it (other than a few test shaves with regular straights to touch base), and I couldn't be happier.

I got an Iwasaki from Straightrazordesigns and that damn thing takes/keeps an edge like some kinda miracle.

It takes a bit to get the shaving technique down, but it's worth it.
