Hi All!
Well the razor and hone are home in Japan! Owen presented the razor and hone to the deceased soldier's son on Iwo Jima March 19th 2014.
Here's a link to the article about the up coming event from my local paper. The article was published on the day that Owen presented the razor to the son. Owen's granddaughter found a video taken on Iwo after the event and sent it to Owen's wife who sent it to me and I sent it to the newspaper so the link is now included in their website.

I spoke with Owen in person this afternoon. He's still very tired but was so pleased with how things went. He said that they met before the ceremonies had started and when he presented the items to the son the look on his face made it well worth the journey! The son didn't cry but his eyes were watery.
The up coming event had been on the Japanese news stations the night before and Owen's translator said that the response was from over 10 million viewers.
Owen also said that the translator told him that Owen's gesture had probably improved the Japanese and American relationship more than the Ceremony honoring those who had died there did!
When we were finished talking I shook Owen's hand, told him how proud I was of what he started and finished and that he'd done good!
He gave a sheepish smile and said, well I tried.
He's trying to send pictures to me but is struggling so he's going to ask his son who accompanied him to help out.
If I get any pics I'll re-post!Last edited by onimaru55; 03-28-2014 at 02:54 AM. Reason: fixed link

Thanx for the update Roy. Tell Owen he's a "Legend"
btw, fixed the link. Wasn't showing the page for me.“The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.”
