I have done some splitting before and while i enjoy physical labor the new level of efficiency that this provides is just hard to ignore.
Now watch the prices on those vintage nortons that the axe-men pay big bucks for drop do a dollar a dozen ;)

The guy s splitting straight grain birch, my wife could do that with a hatchet.
I used to heat my house with wood, 5 cords of bone dry almond and madrone a year.
That tool would be worthless for hardwoods,JMO
Yup. Sorry. The size of the wood he's splitting?? Kindling. Really. I require a 22-ton splitter with modified head and a little mod to ramp up hydrolic speed.Quote:

I think he might be onto something with the single bevel but I don't like how it rotates in the hand on contact. Ergonomics seem wrong that way.
I always used malls and wedeges and a BF sledge, needed at least 4 malls to get the ones that get stuck out of the timber:)
I'm just glad I don't chop wood anymore . :roflmao
