Thread: A Nice Surprise.

For months a friend of mine has been telling me that he has something to give me, if he could just remember where he put it.
For the past 2 years I have been getting rid of what I cannot or have not used,, that I have stored (hoarded) for years. I see things & snatch them thinking that I will need them someday. I think of my friends that might could use the stuff, before I pass the stuff to the Salvation Army. More than a few times the friend's wives have called me, "Johnny stop give crap to my husband, we have no place to put it!",,, well my friends never complain & they always seem happy to get the stuff,, I guess if I collected purses, ladies shoes or cosmetics, then the wives would not complain so much.

But I don't collect those things,,,, so I gave my friend, who's a locksmith by trade, a box of old pad locks,keys, cables & a lock pick set that I acquired years ago. He was happy. When I saw him the other day, he hands me a box.
"Here's the thing I wanted to give you but could not find.", he said. It was stored in his garage for 35 years. It had the smell of long term storage & the indications of a little mold. So I spent an hour on the box & about 3 hours on the knife.

It was a Schrade I-XL Commemorative, made in Sheffield, England. I was always bragging about my old Sheffield razors to him & he remembered the knife was made in Sheffield.
