Some things I buy here. Some things I buy in the US. Some things I buy from Russia or China. I don't care where it comes from really. I prefer woods over synthetics in general though.

I'm the opposite. I prefer synthetics over natural stuff.
Mainly because I like wild flashy colors and also the fact that synthetics are waterproof and easy to work.

Except for the flashy colors part

Though I have a batch of shokwood coming in that is burl impregnated with colored acrylic.
The pics look great, so hopefully it will look good as handles or scales as well.
    Plain wood... no.

Ah but for the flashy colors there's dyed stabilised wood. (Green, blue, bright red etc) and offcourse the part burl part acrylic (alumnite I think it's called) hybrids like Shockwood indeed.

It's all a matter of taste though.

Here's a blue dyed redwood burl that I recently used on a knife.

Wow. I LOVE that knife. Something about it. Maybe the shape or the sheath. Whatever it is, well done.

True. That does look good. Though if it is die impregnated and stabilized, I'd say it is about as 'natural' as shokwood

I know that some of the synthetics that you get over there from dealers have been bought in the US and with stuff like the C-Tek material or the lighting strike carbon fiber, I can buy it from the manufacturer for the same price as those dealers but without the shipping and import duties as long as i am willing to buy a fair amount of it, like maybe a couple of hundred dollars worth.

Shipping is a bit more expensive, but not that big that it makes a difference.

    I never said otherwise ;-)

Still more natural than Kirinite though. I've heard it described as "Mother of toilet seat" which made me laugh. It can look quite nice though. But then there are toilet seats that are quite nice I suspect.
