Large or"Regimental" Kuhkuris are sufficient to remove the head of a bullock in one slice! That is often used in a ceremony of dedication of a military unit. Head chopper? Yes.
I was a butcher and know what it takes to do that job. No liberals need apply!

PS My Kuhkuri was bought in Hawaii while i was on a toot. ~ 1961, A small (literally) group of Gurkhas was standing, Unknown behind me at a souvenir stall in the Marketplace in Waikiki, HI. When I carefully and reverently slid the poorly maintained military blade from the sheath, They went nuts. What a lot of beer those wee giants can consume! They also spoke a lot better English than I at that time. Four cans of Foster each to start, after that I do not remember but they got me back to my ship.Later, the first wife found and garage sale'd it while I was working a weekend to finish a project at work.

now I thought it was for catching a blade if it was to slide along the edge toward the guard, like a stopper

You kukri guru's, is this a site to obtain something authentic: Khukuri House - Official Khukuri/Kukri supplier to Gurkhas

    Any other suggestions?

They've got some good stuff, but they're not the only suppliers of Khukuri. I've dealt with KHHI though and their service was good.

I have to believe that a Khukuri would be the best tool for the Zombie Apocalypse.

I think I might stick to one of my five swords for something like that. Just to keep the buggers outside of arms reach!

Yep, read it works as a stopper for honing too.
Ive also read that it represents the sacred cows hoof, and that it signifies the Hindu fertility symbol.
