The lock on that knife is known as a liner lock.

I'd say your Winchester is styled after the design popularized by Buck knives some 50 years ago. Does it have a country of origin stamping on the tang ? Here is a sure enough example of a classic Winchester from the golden days of that knife co. A model 1920.
