    Default SCARS

Back in the 80s and 90s there was a man, I believe his name was Peterson, teaching a system called SCARS. He trained Navy Seals. This may be the method you are thinking of.

My original post had a link to a story about one of the inventors of this knife. The author of that story is uses a lot of vulgarity and brings a tone of immaturity that many didn't like.

Clearly the link hasn't added value for this thread, so I've removed it.

I couldn't get past the second paragraph. The author's foul mouth ruins his narrative AFAIC. Maybe he equates vulgarity with toughness? Here is the story without the adolescent vernacular.

Really, quite the colourful choice of adjectives...methinks the authour perhaps has some anger issues and aspirations to power over others and the Multi-Verse.....

I read both narratives. I found the one in Wikipedia to be a far better read. It had less editorializing and much more factional information. However Ben Thompson's version was very colorful and full of action. I think after reading about Ben, he has created this world "according to Ben" where he lives and writes about what he considers "Badass". He has created the Badass style of writing that may appeal to some, but not to others.

Isn't America great where everyone has the freedom to choose?

I don't like Ben Thompson's extensive use of vulgarity.

Also, I think Mr. Fairburn was the toughest of the tough and did a lot of good things. I've seen a documentary of training the first commando's / special forces in WW2 and he is prominently featured. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

FWIW, I was a kid raised on the street, quit school and did union ironwork for over 20 years, then worked as a pro tattooer in street shops for 20+ years. My mouth was as foul as the worst of them, but I was transformed by a renewing of my mind, and let no filthy communication come out of my mouth. It is not what goes into a man's mouth that pollutes him, but what comes out. YMMV.

I grew up in what was well known as a particularly rough area, and a lot of verbal communication with friends from there could be vulgar and downright offensive to onlookers, it probably still is with certain people, that's just how we communicate historically. However...

1, I am a fairly well educated person and always try to write in a proper manner. Regardless of the writing.

2, I would never speak in front of my wife or my mother the way I speak to, say, my friend Dave for instance, who is from the same city as me.

3, I just wouldn't post things written the way that page was on a public medium.
