Knife Handles
At the request of a fellow member, I'm posting photos of some (most) of the handles I have made for knife blanks.
First handle I ever made on a Spyderco Mule. Leopardwood with Wenge bolsters and G10 liners, mosaic pins.
This one is Katolox with mosaic pins. Hardest wood I've ever worked with. Ruined a couple of jigsaw blades. This knife will be my daughter's when she gets older.
Padauk w/ Wenge bolsters
The top one is a neck knife with micarta scales. The bottom one is Leapardwood and Katalox.

A few more:
My brother loves Purpleheart, so I made this one for him. The other wood is Canarywood.
This is probably my favorite. Stabilized Maple and Natural Micarta.
Made this one for a friend. Stabilized spalted maple and green micarta.

This was the original handle on this knife when I received it:
I liked the knife, but hated the handle, so I removed it and made an attempt at at a hidden tang with stabilized Redwood burl.
That's the same Redwood burl that I made my first razor scales from. The pictures don't do this one justice.“If you don't know, the thing to do is not to get scared, but to learn.”

Some sheaths in addition to the ones in the pictures above. All made by me:

Thanked: 315Thanks for posting these. Those are really beautiful. The sheaths are nice too. That is something else I want to make too along with my own holsters.
What kind of knife is that with the redwood burl and the other with spalted/green micarta scales. That redwood blows the old scales away.
You've certainly took your time making these scales.

The knife with the redwood is an Eric Knight Subhilt in 52100.
The spalted/green micarta is a blank I got from "Kilrathi" in Poland. It is carbon steel (80Crv2). It's a good sized knife with a 5" blade. Would probably make a good kitchen knife. But you'd have to get a good patina on it because that steel will rust. It took a hair popping edge though.Last edited by vanacres; 03-04-2018 at 02:12 PM.
