scissors in the kintchen
I have been a bit of a snoot about kitchen knives in the past, I have enjoyed using sharp knives to do prep work for cooking. Now days I find myself using cheap ass scissors in the kitchen more and more. I have poultry shears, but that is not what I am talking about.
I like them for cutting meat up in chunks for stir fry, No cutting board or nothing just hacking up thighs right into the skillet. They are the ultimate bacon cutting tool. they also work well for herbs.
I feel like the Ronco guy, is there anything the can not do
I have a new appreciation for the inexpensive stainless scissors. Use'em and toss in the sink.

Thanked: 4826We have a dish washer, and scissors go well in there too. I can’t say I’ve used them for cutting meat, but certainly veggies. I’m going to have to give them a whirl on bacon!

Thanked: 59Isn't it sacrilegious or something for a knife maker to say that he uses scissors to cut meat?

In 50 years as a mechanic and repairer of everything I could, mostly out of necessity, I've found that a knife has been the cutting tool I've used least of all. Some form a shear, in the form of scissors of all types, aviation snips, sidecutters or even a guillotine, have seen much more use. Next on the list would be saws of every type. There is usually a more efficient tool than a knife for most cutting jobs.

Thanked: 1936We use the shears that came with our set of knives an awful lot. Used them last night trimming and cutting chicken breasts.

I only use them to open up packagings. A knife for meat and veg. I keep my Fiskars sharp with a SewSharp, a little hand-held thingy.

Hands up everyone who wants to see Charlie make his own kitchen scissors now...
I've forged knives, razors, axes, all sorts of cutting things, but have yet to summon the courage to tackle scissors. I think maybe because I hate making tongs, and they seem a bit tong-like in their persnicketyness.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
