Keychain knife

Hey guys,

I don't know anything about pocket knives, but I'm looking for a small affordable one to put on my keychain (no swissarmy please) any suggestions?

I don't know how "affordable" you want it to be, but I have been very pleased with my tiny spyderco...to be honest, I don't even recall the model name. It cuts like a bigger knife, and quality is excellent.
I also know SOG recently came out with a tiny knife that my friends are pleased with. Again, I don't know the model name.

Edit: The spyderco I have is called the "ladybug." don't let the name discourage you...it really does perform admirably! I only carry it occasionally, as usually I have one of a vairety of Atwood small edged tools/knives in my back pocket. (currently the "fixer" gets almost EDC'd)

Not sure what to recommend for on a keychain...I don't usually carry knives that small.

If you don't mind carrying one around your neck on a lanyard, this one comes to mind, and is a great little blade! Plus IIRC, the sheath also has a clip on it so you can carry it on a belt or as a boot knife.

I have owned a few Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT) knives with no complaints. While I haven't carried these, I have played with them. I think if you get to a dealer and fiddle around with them, you may find your search is over:

CRKT makes a decent product (but don't tell anyone on the knife forums that because they'll go nuts about them using "inferior steels")

But they're decent.

my favorite from SOG is called the access card....but it's probably more of a money clip than a key chain.

Anything by spyderco is decent....or excellent depending on the product.

Personally....I prefer to just have something in my pockets and if it has to be something small I'll just stick a nice slipjoint in there.

+1 on the Spyderco LadyBug

Good blade (VG-10) & has a blade lock.

Hi,

I have a very small Kershaw lock-knife. Avoid hanging anything heavy on your car key ring. The extra weight tends to damage the lock barrel over time. Saying that, in Europe we're moving away from cars having ignition keys.

Take a look at Fallkniven U2. It is a real knife yet small enough to fit in any pocket or to be attached to a key chain.
