That is a very cool knife, it looks like it will get the job done. It is satisfying to use a self-made tool.

Very nice! I'd love that as a camp knife! It looks exactly like what I'd want out there - sturdy and sharp with a tip you can confidently put pressure on. (Unlike those clip points you see all the time.) Are you planning on making the sheath out of the G10 as well or some leather instead?
I want to ask - how does it feel in your grip? The shape doesn't look particularly ergonomic but you can't really tell without holding it. Maybe a photo of you holding it?
Excellent work!

Thanked: 234Hi, thanks once again for the compliments. I ordered some leather yesterday for the sheath, will be interesting I've never really worked with leather before. Or done any kind of fabric stuff really.
I got so lucky with the shape. It fits my hand nicely. I won't pretend it's as ergonomic as it could be, but I don't think I will have any problems using it. I was using it pretty hard for about a half hour yesterday, and I didn't find it uncomfortable.
Lamb's foot is a blade profile I like as well, like you say it provides a pretty sturdy tip. It's less likely to pierce than a clip point or drop point blade as well. I just have a preference for knives with flat blades, don't know why!
I will get a picture of it in the hand.

You'll find that basic leather work isn't all that difficult. In fact. Making a basic sheath only takes me an hour or two.
Advanced leatherwork however......
Easiest way I've found is wetforming leather. Just google sheathmaking. Yo'll get all kinds of tutorials out of it and can from there select/pick-mix your own approach.

Thanked: 234YEr I haven't had much time to read up on it at all but I think I have a plan. It's going to have to be quite a deep sheath to cling onto the knife, but I don't think it's going to be too much of an issue. I think wet forming is the plan.
