Default Greetings from Western Washington (state that is)

Hello from Yelm Washington, I've been lurking for about a year, been straight shaving for about 7 months. I have all vintage razors that I have found in antique stores (treasure hunting). I enjoy shaving this way;every day is an adventure.

Hello fellow Washingtonian USA that is!
I hail from SW Washington State the tiny town of Ridgefield, prolly smaller than Yelm but just as nice!
I'm just getting into this wet shaving experience. Sure wish I had tried it earlier! I turn 60 later this year so I've been doing it wrong for a long time! Used to hate every minute I spent shaving! Now I look forward to the daily challenge. Each shave is a chance to get better at it. Being just a little competitive, I enjoy the progress made.
Started a few months ago with a Dovo shavett which I could afford. Managed to learn how to give myself a good shave with the Dovo with minimal blood loss. Love using the mug and brush rather than that crap that comes in a can. It's so easy to lather up with the mug and brush, I can't understand why anyone would lather up any other way. After a few months with the Shavette and a couple nasty cuts while changing those tiny hard to handle blades,it seemed like it was time to get a "real" razor. Again dollars become an issue, not enough of them to buy a new top name razor. The wife had a fit when told how much new razors cost.
So go to plan B, EBay,got lucky and won a nice Lakeside brand made in America razor. I knew I could sharpen most any edge made of decent steel.since I've sharpened and honed and stropped many edges to the state of scary sharp, handle with care! The razor arrived in better than expected condition but not ready to shave anything. Went to work with my diamond hones and was able to strop off one long skinny burr. With a knife this indicates you have got it right so be careful with that knife or you will bleed.
Proceeded to have the best shave ever with that razor! The Shavette is going to my grown son so he can learn how to shave like a man.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Take care along with short strokes!
