Total Noob
I don't even have a straight razor and gear yet, but I am really liking this forum/website. I have a few old razors that were given to me years go. I'll have to dig them out and take some pics. Last I saw them, the steel was in fairly good shape (no noticeable pitting or chips), but the scales on one were broken at the rivet. Neither are in any way "shave ready".
I live in Utah and am as interested in restoring, honing, and maybe even making blades as I am in using them. Surely there is a wide range of things to learn about there.
For now, I'm just absorbing as much information as I can. Thank you all for contributing to the pool of knowledge!

Welcome...it'd be nice to restore those and have those to shave with first.

Welcome to SRP!
I agree with K37... those WOULD be nice to have brought up to snuff and learn on.
You may want to contact gssixgun, maximilian, zib or any of the members in the "Member Services" section of the classifieds about getting them restored. Every example of work I've seen from the folks there was stunning and all have great feedback and reputations."Willpower and Dedication are good words," Roland remarked, "There's a bad one, though, that means the same thing. That one is Obsession." -Roland Deschain of Gilead
