Thanked: 0Hello from Pittsburgh
New to straight razors other than having some great shaves during my business travels. Picked up everything I need to get started at Art of Shaving. I know that's probably not the most sophisticated start, but after watching a bunch of vids and reading a lot of threads I thought it would be some place that I could at least talk to someone and make sure I have everything to start. Picked up a nice DOVO made for Art of Shavng.
Always open to new ideas and info from people who have travelled the road before. Thank you for letting be part of the conversation.

Thanked: 177My first straight and strop were from there. They are not shave ready though. I wish someone told me when I got mine so sorry for the news. It will have to be honed before you can get a good shave with it. Their strop is very narrow, I have it too. Anyway enjoy it!

Thanked: 498Welcome to the forum JW and to straight razor shaving. How you started is cool, A.O.S. can be a little spendy but they do sell quality. I like buying from brick & mortor shops as opposed to on line buying. As Bill said A,O.S. razors arent shave ready guaranteed, but thats not to say that it wasn't honed properly from the factory. Hey you'll know once you use it.
