Default Hi new from Bristol ,England

Hi everyone, not long had a desposible straight razor , and want to bye a new proper staight razor (the business) any advice on a good starter one( manufacturer) ready and easy to strop, and won't need honing on a stone for a long time. Either made in UK or Germany is most preferable, also any advice on desent strops manufactured in same locations.

Any advise would be most welcome and greatly appreciated.

Dovo springs to mind for both Razor and Strop, but I don't know of any UK sellers of Shave Ready Razors.

    Hadrada79,

    Welcome and hello from Hastings

Mr Dempster supplies new Dovo & Thiers-Issard razors that are shave ready :

    Introduction to razors

For razor honing, restorations, strops etc, Mr Neil Miller would be my recommendation (he is a very, very fine chappie to business with :

Vintage Straight Razor Sales & Restorations, Hand Made Strops, UK Razor Honing and Vintage Hone Stones

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

    Bombay,

The site 'RestoredRazors' looks to be run by Mr Dave Glynn, who is well known in the safety razor world (Modern and Vintage Safety Razors, Shaving Brushes, Creams and Soaps - SafetyRazors.co.uk)

His re-plating work is excellent, and I have bought quite a number of GEM & Ever-Ready SE razors from him

Hadrada79 - the Thiers-Issard (TI) razors are made in France. The 'new' TI C135 steel is made very hard, and once these razors edges are dialed in, for me, they keep the edge for much longer than any other straight razor I have

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

Just took a look at the C1 35 blade they look good think I will be happy with that one , I haven't a thick beard so hopefully will keep its edge for longer for me than someone who has. Do you rate any type of Damascus razors for beginners or is this a awkward subject.
