Lady from Canada :)
Hello!
My name is Lauren and my only experiences in shaving thus far have been ugly disposable razors, waxing, and chemical depilatories!
A few Christmas's ago I wanted a Double Edged Safety Razor. I didn't get one.. Well, I'm back on that train of thought and I want to venture into the world of Straight Razors! From my researching so far it seems there is a lot to this art.
I don't have one. I'm completely new. So I figured I'd make an account, browse the Classifieds for my very first SR, and learn as much as I can while trying to get started.
Nice to meet you all

Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!
You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!
You might check out the Ladies Forum. Really good information there, I've had the privilege of meeting Nanna, wonderful woman with a great husband and beautiful child!!
First and foremost, the canned gunk that you've been using isn't going to cut it with a straight! even the lowly Williams is much better! There are many options! You can pick up a beginners soap, brush and mug here in the states for about $10-11 if you have a Wal Mart nearby check there.
Here again, Nanna and others will be more knowledgeable in the Ladies Forum.
I've been to your very beautiful British Columbia many times! In fact I honeymooned there 34 years ago! I've also been to Albert twice.
Before I go, I don't know how far north you are, but there is a Northwest Meet in Spokane Washington this coming fall! If you could make the trip you will learn more in an afternoon than you will in months and months of asking questions, reading and watching videos!
Join us if you can!!! You will be more than welcome! I hope to see you there!

Glad to see another lady join.
I havent talked my wife into one yet but i did shave her legs once which she really enjoyed.
I would highly recomend a round tip, you ladies got alot of places to get in to knees, ankles etc.
The straighter parts are really easy though.
Good luck with your future in shaving.
Mike

Welcome to the best forum of the web! It is very nice to see another Lady joining the forum.
I would suggest you buying a round point straight razor which I believe to be the best one for ladies. Don't forget to properly prepare your skin before shaving. You will find an endless source of information here.
