Thread: Hoi from Switzerlad

Hello everybody! I've been lurking here for sometime now so I thought I might as well sign up so I can ask some questions myself.
I've been DE shaving for about 5 years now and thought its time to step up to a straight razor. I picked up two vintage razors at an antique shop (Jahellberg Eskilstuna from Sweden and a Jos. Fink Jr. ????). Just need to send them in and get them restored. Thanks for having me as a member!

I don't know if you have or not, but if you're looking for a great place to start learning the technique theories you may want to click on the "Library" link at the top of the site. That is a wealth of good info. Another piece of advice is to click on the "Community" link and see what members may be near you (I know we have several from Sweden). If it's possible for you to meet with them, they may be able to show you the ropes in person which is infinitely more helpful than just reading.

One thing you have going in your favor is that you've already learned most of your prep from the DE shaving, so consider yourself at an advantage in that regard.

Thanks for the tips and info! Sweden is a bit too far away to meet up with someone to watch them shave. It would be like someone from Oklahoma traveling to Ontario, lol.

Haha.... I don't know why my phone auto corrected Switzerland as Sweden, but sometimes I think it has a mind and will of its own.

welcome to the SRP, I think Klotzli the custom knife makers who have a store in Bern may have a gentleman's section there and might sell shaving items such as razors.

Thanks for the tip. I checked out their web page and didn't see any razors. I will go in person next time I am in Bern and see if they have a few in the shop.
