    Default Newbie again

    Howdy from South Carolina

Been lurking for a few weeks to get a feel for SRP and the latest info on shaving. I started using a straight razor when I was 20 years old and I have found out many things I did wrong back then. I still managed to get a decent shave. That was a long long time ago.

When I started travelling for work, it just was not option with my timeframes. I am now semi-retired and decided to go back to a good shave. I enjoy the feeling of the shave and find it relaxing.

In the last two weeks, I have purchased 4 razors, strop and different creams/balms.

My first problem is that they all need to be honed and cleaned up. The wife finds it interesting that I have spent all this cash and cannot shave yet. To her credit, she just takes the occasional jab at me but no grief.

I look forward to learning more as time goes on. I am a little burned out on watching videos for now. First I need to decide on whom I would like to get me a honed and cleaned up blade.

    Fox, Welcome to SRP.

Have you checked out the classifieds here on SRP? There are ads for restoration and honing in the Member Serices section.

I have spent a lot of time looking at the member services. Problem is their are too many to choose from. Every time I decide on one, I start looking again and change my mind. Looks like they all do great work. The only ones I have been able to exclude are outside the U.S..
