Thread: hello from ohio

Hi everyone. my name is herb and i started shaving straight about six months ago. I was shaving with my gillette sensor, beating the handle on the edge of the sink to dislodge stubble as always. I thought there must be a better way. My sister went to barber school back in the day, so i told her i was interested in learning to shave with a straight razor. She recomended i start with a disposable blade model. I use a curved handle model made by Fromm. the blades are far less expensive than my discarded Gillette. my bedroom dresser has a large looking glass, so i shave in my room using an antique bowl and pitcher. I finish off with pinaud clubman aftershave and talc. i think i am ready for a proper hone razor now.
