:Hi! From The Netherlands
Hello!
I'm Tobias, 26yo, fan of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Jamiroquai, the Alps, Breckenridge (Colorado), Italy, whisky, coffee and Dutch cheese, love squash and running.
Besides that I'm completely new into wet SR shaving. In the last couple of weeks I jumped into this forum, youtube and a lot of internet shops and learned a lot about shaving with a SR. Now I finally decided to make the step and start searching for the appropriate equipment. I was never convinced of the benefits of a G*l***** F*s**n/M*ch but haven't had the money to buy a SR. I'm really charmed of the Spanish point, but that's not a right consideration I guess.
I hope some of you can guide me into a straight razor that is a little harder to start with, but is useable as soon as I'm more experienced. I'm light bearded. Will never have a two-day-beard-look.
Brands that are easy to buy in NL are DOVO, Böker, Wacker Sollingen. But if you have some suggestions for me, I would be thankfull.
O, I'm considering to have a short training at a barber nearby, is that useful or is it better to spend the money on a SR and try it myself with help of YouTube?
Thanks for your help already!
Tobias

Welcome hope you find you stuff soon so you can start. You also can look on marktplaats there are a couple of razors that worth to view. I now three of them are shave ready.
Imo you hold your money in your pocket and look for contact whit a member here near you instead of give your money to a barber. they are will gladly give tips and possibly once come together to show their moves. Learning shave whit a str8 is collecting info and shave, shave and again shave.
Where you from in Holland?

Thanked: 2209Welcome to SRP
Kalerolf has it right. Your best bet is to meet with some experienced straight razor users near you. It will shorten your learning curve a lot.
I searched the SRP Member database and here is a list of 60 with a "location" of netherlands in their profile.

and 7 with a location of Holland.......

Send a PM to some to see which are near you then set up a 1 on 1 meeting.
BTW, click on "Settings" at the top of this page and enter your location in your profile. That way others can find you.
Hope this helpsRandolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
