Thanked: 0Bonjour from Canada!
Hi to all,
I discovered this place when, a couple of months ago, I moved from shavettes to straights after a year of "practice" and now...I am completely hooked.
Glad to be part of the group!

Thanked: 0Hi Pi3!
A lot of Canadians and Quebecois on the forum? Dont know much about the straight razor local scene...if there is any: good addresses for a shave and razor-related materials (other than "le centre du rasoir") and a good honemeister who would be willing to share his voodoo

Salut Eddycat, et bienvenue!
Check out Vasco Cigars on Ste-Catherine. They do sell some razors (DE and straight) but do not offer honing services. Every time I have been in there and mentioned that I restore and use vintage straights, they offer to send me 'clients' for honing and restoration. Alas, I just do this stuff for the enjoyment and so have not taken them up on the offer, but at least I do know that they *don't* offer that service at the moment. That having been said, the fact they recognize it as a service that is needed can only be a good sign...
They also have a pretty decent selection of brushes in that they have plenty of them. Since I've been bitten by the brush making bug lately and so have been making rather than shopping for brushes, I didn't check any prices so I don't know how they compare. But they do have quite a few there.
And finally, they have a good selection of soaps, creams, etc. I left the store on Friday a poorer man, but a man nonetheless armed with some damn nice Castle Forbes lavender cream. Lovely stuff...
So I'd suggest checking them out. Their shaving section is towards the back past the cigars and pens.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
