I'll give it a shot in NOVA
Hello all!
My name is Mark, I'm 48 years old and I've been reading the forum for some time now.
I don't like marching, but if I have to, it will be to the beat of a different drum.
In the shaving arena, I thought it was about time to Man Up and stop paying the outrageous prices for replacement cartridges. I have no allusions that this will be cheaper (if that happens I'll be happy). I just don't want to be Gillette's or Schick's slave anymore.
I got fed up with the price of ammunition, so I decided to reload my own.
That little experiment led to buying my own molds, Lyman Type 2 lead, et al, and 'dropping' my own bullets.
Now that I'm waiting for my SR set to arrive, I can't help but wonder where this new journey of independence will lead.
I'll thank you all in advance for all the information I'm soaking up here and I promise to let you know just how steep or gentle the learning curve is for me.
All the best to all of you and yours. Thanks for what you are doing.
It makes things a lot easier for us newbies...

As a newbie myself, you have made a good choice. Welcome aboard!
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

You gonna love it. You'll save a fortune. Go ahead and put a downpayment on the yacht tomorrow.

Welcome to SRP Mark!
I've only been in the game since March, but this community has been super helpful and encouraging along the way. You're in good hands and good company.
By the way, where is all your gear coming from and what kind did ya get?
Oddly, and slightly off topic, I was actually just discussing getting started in reloading my own ammo in another thread in "The Finer Things In Life" section of the forum. Feel free to jump in there!
Again, welcome and let us know what we can do to help you get through the curve, even if all you need is for us to send you a kind word!"Willpower and Dedication are good words," Roland remarked, "There's a bad one, though, that means the same thing. I got the gear from Straight Razor Designs.
I went with the Ralf Aust Manufacture Solingen 5/8 Black.
I could have tire-kicked that decision for a month, but knew prolonging it would just be stalling. You have to start somewhere, right?
As to your 'slightly off topic comment' about reloading; I'll try to find that thread.
After a few years of reloading, maybe I can pay forward what I'll probably be doing here.
Thanks again.Last edited by ColonelG; 09-06-2013 at 12:43 PM. Reason: clarity

Welcome Mark,
Glad to have you aboard, seems there are few of us here with the same hobbies in other arenas.
Been reloading longer than wet shaving and had just started casting before things had to be put on hold for a bit.
Great community here, share and ask.
Cheers

Thanks Pat.
It is interesting that other hobbies are seemingly intersecting.
All the best
