Thanked: 0aboout to take the leap
Hi everyone!
Ive been a wet shaver for 2 years using DE and SE razors. The end game has probably always been to land here but Im just getting started picking up some gear. Not wanting to go all in, I picked up a gold dollar from a reputable hobbyist on B&B as well as a Universal Shavette and a Mister C injector blade shavette. I also grabbed a Shumate Barber deluxe from an antique store on which I plan to "hone" my honing and stropping skills. Still need to pick up a strop and a hone and nothing is in my possession yet but the Shumate but Im looking forward to learning the process. Tons to read here before I put my toe in the water.
Thanks in advance for your support.

Thanked: 1936Glad to have you Joe!
Please, do yourself a favor: Learn to straight shave, then learn to hone. I'm not too keen on Gold Dollars as they are too hit and miss on if they are any good or not. You might do yourself a favor and have your Shumate honed by a pro in the classified's section here...you won't regret it one bit.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Thanked: 2209Welcome to SRP
Shooter74743 has it right, first learn to shave with a straight razor, then learn to hone it.
As you know from your time with DE & SE razors it is beard prep and shaving technique that are the most important. With a straight razor it also includes stropping. Honing is the last skill you will need to learn...eventually.
