Thanked: 0G'Day everyone
Well I have been lurking in the backgrouns here for a while trying to get an idea of what straight razor shaving is all about, there is some great information on here so have decided to take the plungs and try my hand so to speak.
Im an Aussie living and working in Bangkok so any gear I need obviously has to come from the net but thats ok, if there are any other Straight Shavers in or around Bangkok let me know would be nice to meet up with like minded folk.
Anyway I'll leave it there and get back to work, take care and keep the info comming guy's, us new to the game need all the help we can get.
Cheers.

I live in Hong Kong... here is nothing to find regarding straightrazors (got mine online)... I guess as Asians have very light beards. Did you find a razor yet?

Thanked: 0Yeah have been very busy and spending a heap, I have a Thiers-Issard Starter Kit, a Dovo Bismark and have a Mastro Livi on the way from Italy today (cant wait for this razor), all done over the net from various retailers including Straight Razor Designs, Mastro Livi's website and Executive Shaving, like I say a lot of money but at 48 years old I figure i'm allowed to spoil myself occasionally.

Thanked: 983G'day Wayne, you've landed in the right place to learn how to use those cut-throats. I envy you the Livi. I wish I could afford one .

Welcome, you have certainly dove in head first purchase wise. You will definately not be able to lay any blame at the feet of your razors should you have any teething trouble.
I take it you are set up with brush strop etc as part of the set? Have you got some soaps etc coming. As I understand it martin de candre is a fantastic soap but also expensive, however there are plenty of cheaper but really good options out there.
A lot of your questions can be answered by using the search function on the top right, but feel free to ask questions too.
Oh and there is a Razor club for mastro livi owners somewhere on here too.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 0Thanks guy's one of the good things about working offshore is being able to spoil yourself once in a while ie. the Mastro Livi, yeah I have all the soaps, strops, hone, post shave lotion etc so you could say I have all the gear and very little idea. Plan on getting a lot more practice when I get back onshore so until then will keep my eyes and mind open on the forum, cheers guy's and again thanks for the welcome

G'Day Wayne and welcome.
I don't think the Maestro Livi is a good idea at this stage - send it to me and I'll mind it for you.....hehehe.Hang on and enjoy the ride...
