Hello from Deutschland
Hello SRP. Just following standard procedure and doing a proper introduction.
The name's Vick. I've been reading this site and others for a few months now as I slowly toyed with getting my own hones rather than continue to pay 15 euros per blade for them, and finally figured I may as well join. I'm fortunate enough to actually live in Bavaria only a few hours from Solingen, so my experience is primarily with German made cutters from right up the road. Of course, all of the American online retailers get the majority of the stockage Dovo and Böker release yearly, so it can be a chore, but the razors are generally 80-90 dollars cheaper and have no shipping cost associated, so that's a definite plus.
I'll make an actual contributory post in another forum, but for now, that's me. I, like most here, am addicted to the gear and experience of straight razor wet shaving, so you'll likely see me around here. From what I've been reading these last few months, this is a group of knowledgeable enthusiasts and genuinely nice people. I look forward to talking more.

Welcome. I had the opportunity to spend a month in Germany one summer back during school. Really nice country.

Messer Hoffritz in Schweinfurt is the gentleman I use. He has a small shop, and can usually give me a 24 hour turnaround for 15 euro. That's a bit of a drive from München, especially considering that the A3 was conceived in the foulest bowels of Hell, but the Post could probably have it up here pretty quickly. Andreas, the shop owner, is fluent in Englisch if you're American, and he's about the friendliest business owner I've met here. If you called him ahead of time, he'd probably have no problem with you sending them to him.
Und an meine deutschen Freunde, alles wunderbar. Vielen Dank für die nette Begrüßung!Last edited by vmathis12019; 09-16-2013 at 04:55 AM.
