    Default Brand new Shaver

I am brand new to straight razor shaving and I bought the whole get up. Now I spent 4 hours trying to make my razor shave ready and I think I ruined the razor and the stone. Is there anything I can do to correct the razor and the gauges in the stone or should I just buy new ones?

If you add your location to your profile, perhaps someone lives close by and can mend it for you.

I expect the hone can be lapped with sandpaper and a flat tile, you can find this in the Wiki or search for "hone lapping" in the forum. As for the razor, why do you think you ruined it?

Sory bout the sory intro haha. Well the razor probably isn't ruined you can just tell I am not an expert. The edge isn't straight or perfect but with someone that knows what they are doin will probably fix it. As far as location, I am deployed to Bahrain right now so location isn't going to help. Any suggestions on someone I can mail my setup too and get started on the right track?

Gouges in the stone what sort of stone were you using?

Please tell us a little about the razor and any other equipment you have. Sadly, I doubt we have any members near you but yes mailing is an option.

that is why we need details some "razors" and "hones" quite literally are not worth the postage so knowing the brands and type will help folks figure out how best to help you.

and yes pictures would be great.

    Welcome to SRP!

Hi. Hones can be lapped and the classifieds have plenty of people who could hone the razor. Good luck.

Don't want to be the bad guy here but Kriegars are more like razor type instruments. In other words it's a razor shaped knife. You'll never be able to get that shave ready nor in shaveable condition. Sorry to be the one to break the news.....

If you've really ruined the stone- which I think is completely fixable it just will take time- but if you really did ruin it just PM me I have one that I can give you.

I don't think I ruined it I am just over exagerating because I am kicking myself in the tail for not doing more research. It really is a small nick and lapping may fix it
