    I don't do resto-work much at all.
    Honing is my thing

That said, from what I can tell seeing the pictures, all it would need imho is a proper rubbing with a metal-polish and some cleaning.
You can quite easily do that yourself, no problems with the print on the blade.
That will not be affected by any metal-polish on a cloth.
You need to watch out when it comes to gold-wash, but for this kind of markings, no worries at all.

Send me the razor, and I'll give it a good scrubbing without removing any markings or stuff like that.
If you find that doesn't meet your needs, you could always send it of to a restorer nearby.
(there is one here in Oslo, Zephyr, which is a talented chap that does fine work)

If you do find that to be good enough for that razor, fine, you'll have saved a little time, and you will have a shave-ready razor with a lot of history and some character

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanks Mick you are most kind. Don't mind us JackeHj we tend to get of track from time to time, not really a hijack more a loan of the thread.

Hmm, perhaps I need to start a thread, for us to go to when we get in a waffling mood.

Me too, but I reckon nightblade will think its about actual waffles, then be disapointed that its just you and me talking crap.
