Thanked: 0Good day from the wilds of Kodiak, Alaska
Hello all.....I finally decided to take the plunge and join the forum as I have been lurking for weeks now. I wish now that I had done a little more research prior to buying my first razor. I got sucked in by the "to good to be true" deal and it was. I got not even a first full shave with it, and in the end it looked like I had gotten in a fight with a cat and lost! (although thank goodness for styptics!). After looking around a little more here I purchased a sight unseen from whippeddog that arrived a few days ago, and oh man what a world of difference. What I got ended up being a Clauss razor with faux ivory scales and I am in love with it. I look forward to becoming proficient, but kinda wish that the learning curve were not quite so steep so that I could go straight to the baby butt feel. I look forward to hearbing from and learning from all of the experienced people out there.

Thanked: 983Welcome to the forum Ben. You've landed in the right place for all the help you need. The Gents (and Ladies) here are most helpful indeed.

Thanked: 1184You aren't the only one who fell for the deal of the century. I look at it as my first learning experience but it peeked my interest and set my resolve so it wasn't a real loss. Welcome to SRP. and see ya round.
My best advice>>> go slow, pay attention to what your doing > always.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 603It's entirely understandable, your not taking the username of "Gentle_Ben" (to quote a Jimmy Buffet lyric, "He was a Kodiak-lookin' fella, 'bout 19-feet tall"). We look forward to frequent photographs from you in the SOTD (Shave Of The Day) forum -- after all, where else is every moment a potential "Kodiak moment"?! :-)
Welcome to SRP, and smooth shaving!
Fort Richardson, 1/72-1/74 and Fairbanks, 11/09-5/12You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Thanked: 0Thanks everyone for the warm welcome...
eddy79....unfotunately it was not ebay, but a website with a name DANGEROUSLY close to the reputable one on here (an "s" I believe??) Fortunately, I have gotten straightened out and on the right path.
JBHoren...lol, I was called "Gentle Ben" in grade school.....I did not even think about that seeing as I am in the land of the Kodiak Brown Bear. I chose Popeye because like him I, am a "Coastie" or U.S. Coastguardsman.
