Thanked: 40Howdy from Melbourne (AU)
Greetings Gentlemen (and any ladies that may have inadvertently wandered astray).
I’ve been lurking around here for more then a year absorbing all that I can.
I haven’t yet started to use a straight (although I have a couple of family heirlooms that are far from shave ready and begging for a restoration) but I’ve been trying to master the fundamentals of wet shaving for the past 6 months using a DE razor.
In that time I have come to greatly appreciate (amongst many other things):
- the value (and comfort) of a sharp blade. Having fair hair, blue eyes and a beard with more then a little auburn tinge, feathers are my one and only;
- that patience is a virtue, for with out it being a patient is my destiny. Specifically, I experience nothing but unpleasantness if I don’t take the time to make my skin taut and pay attention to grain direction, such that WTG always comes before XTG which always comes before ATG.
I have not previously posted as I am in my formative years (figuratively speaking) and not yet wise in the art, however the new giveaway rules have had the desired impact and I will endeavour to keep my future participation informative and useful, thereby maintaining the customary standards.
Warmest regards,
Neal.
