Default Newbie (sort of) re-checking in after a few years

    Hi all,

Got into Str8s and this forum and another one (more heavily in that one for a long time) back in 2009-2010....then my twins were born and I put down the str8s just due to lack of time...but I've always looked at them in my shave den wanting to get back in the mix.

This past month I picked one up, attempted a str8 shave and realized it needed a touch up badly. So I broke out the norton 4k/8k, touched it up and had a go...it was pretty rough (lost some technique and the blade was not refined)...but it felt great to be doing it again.

Now I've got some hones on the way and have been a reading fool these past two weeks to remember everything I unlearned...great to be back and hope to learn a ton along the way.

Might be able to contribute to the soaps/shave brush forums too as I've been using those for years.

Anyway, glad to be back and hope to participate in this forum more this go around.

Welcome back! I can imagine how the arrival of twins could place some demands on one's time.

What other hones did you get to supplement your 4/8K?

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

And we have another victim of HAD!

Some folks don't have a lot of time for the CNAT, and to fair they have been shown to be inconsistent at times. However, I quite like mine, so hopefully you get a good one too.

Cnat on the boards is likely to be a dud, thats why its on the boards. Any good cnat wouldnt be sold if it produces good and easy edges. Jmho. Ive had 2 , sold the first, got another one that was its twin. Naniwa 12k is faster and finer.
