Thanked: 0New Member in Georgia!
Good morning!
I have been wet shaving with a DE Merkur and EJ for 5-6 years and just recently picked up my first Str8 - a 6/8 Ralf Aust from SRD along with his modular paddle strop. I'm about 5-6 shaves in and have had a few nicks but nothing major and no razor burn. I definitely need to improve my stropping as I get more zip on the return stroke than the away.
But I'm looking forward to learning from you all and am about to pull the trigger on another Aust. (probably a 5/8) so I can rotate razors
I look forward to contributing but mostly learning from all of you!
Ps - Thanks to Lynn for the great razor - It's hard to imagine a better razor for the price than the Ralf Aust I got from them.

Welcome to SRP
Sounds like you have good wet shaving skills, that will certainly shorten your learning curve.
To help with your stropping try watching yourself in the mirror or video. Also take a look through the Stroptober thread.
Watch out for RAD it will git you & your wallet.

Welcome aboard! Looks like you have a pretty good handle on the whole wet shaving process. Just remember to have fun and ask any questions you may have.

Welcome to SRP from Powder Springs, GA (just west of Marietta)!
Feel free to ask any questions you might have, as we certainly like to help out! Also, as has been said, your wet shaving skills from using a DE razor should lend themselves nicely to your new journey, since it will allow you to focus on stropping and shaving technique and not worry about beard prep.
Again, welcome and let us know if there's anything you need!"Willpower and Dedication are good words," Roland remarked, "There's a bad one, though, that means the same thing. That one is Obsession." -Roland Deschain of Gilead
