Default Hello Newbie to the forum and to the experience!!!

I am from Alabama, Helena to be exact and I have visited the forum many times for advice.. Although I have never asked for it I have perused the forums for the tidbits that I needed to get started, but alas I am at a point now where I need more personalized information..

I have been SR shaving for about four months now. I bought this poor little shaving kit that had a practice razor and a buffalo horn scaled shave ready razor to start the journey.. I have since found myself longing for a better razor, strop, brush etc .. So I decided to look on eBay to find something affordable that maybe I could have restored.. As luck would have it I lost alot of auctions so I started bidding on more than one at a time. I ended up with two Dubl Duck Goldege razors as seen below and I would like to know if I should attempt to restore myself or if anyone here restores razors for a reasonable price.. I am quite adept at honing as I do this with all of my hunting knives and shears even the practice razor has a keen edge but I am more Interested in preserving the original razor rather than polishing away all its value.. I will be keeping one and reselling the other.. Any help would be much appreciated..

Welcome to SRP! No advice on restoration, as I'm just as new to this as you, but I thought I would welcome another AL straight shaver. If you don't get the advice that you're looking for in this post, try re-posting it in the workshop forum. FWIW, I just sent a couple to gemstarcustoms ("gssixgun"), who has a really great reputation; looking forward to getting them back. Good luck with the restos (I might be interested in one of those when you're done, btw), and Roll Tide!

Hi and welcome. Hard to tell from pics but they look in pretty good condition. I'd start by giving a good polish with mass or equivelant and see how they turn out. The don't need to be super pretty just honed properly.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
