Right lads, time to hit the hay.
I work nights incase some of you wondered about my unusual time keeping.

I think this may sum up this thread (and you/us)...
1967 | The Doors: People Are Strange - YouTube
Loved that song ever since "The Lost Boys" came outback in the '80's. :)
Mick
Well, yes, but that tune in particular has stuck with me ever since I saw that movie. Before then, I didn't really listen to The Doors...Or any other music for that matter. I tended to be out in the bush a lot back then and didn't have much time for music.
Mick
I don't know about the soundtrack but I seem to remember enjoying young guns too.
And Donnie darko has a stellar soundtrack.
Ok after doing some research, the next most posts on a beginners thread to this one is 73, and ahead of you (excluding doc's general introduce yourself thread for.all the guys who didn't bother doing their own at 211) is mr peters who came in at 596 then disappeared about a month and a bit ago.
But this is just a smoke screen for the fact that Kev was tying to get all you blokes involved in a mass debating session. Is nobody else concerned by this Irish rebellion that's about to ensue?!?! ;)
Mick
Thing about getting all the Irish on the streets is I wouldn't know what to do with them once I got them out.
Eventually someone would suggest the pub and that would be the end of that.
Though we would essentially have St Paddies day in November, which wouldn't be bad! :)
On a straight razor related point (unusual I know), my drunken eBay purchase arrived today. A bit dirty and water marked, I gave it a quick polish up and it seems to be coming up well except for two spots near the toe of the blade.

I'm taking it to work with me tonight to work on it some more. I've always actually enjoyed polishing, is that weird??
You do realise that your workmates will think you are a nutter. You might find that you have to live with some of it. If you decide to sand it or anything more extreme than metal polish, be wary of excess heat, and removing too much material.
Besides you need to get it over to Jamie so you can use it on the first.
Took a break at work tonight and sat up the back of the bus I was building and decided to polish my razor. Eventually my mate came on the bus to see what I was doing because from the outside it looked very suspicious looking 😳
If the bus is a rockin don't come a knockin! ;)
Love it...:rofl2:
Mick
Hey you guys!
Got a pm from Jamie yesterday to say that he was honing my razor and discovered a slight warp in the spine. He says it's still usable though so I suppose it's not too bad.
In other news I picked up a brush and soap. To be honest they're not great, just wilkinson's sword products that I picked up with my groceries but they'll do for a start.
Had a shave with them on Friday afternoon and I still felt clean shaven on Saturday evening. I kept rubbing my face to check, which was weird because I was at the football and quite drunk! :)
That's one of the major beauties of a straight razor shave ...... the longevity.
Play some old music while you shave and wear suspenders so they can hang undone...wearing riding boots too helps ,it's all macho n stuff.
Plenty of decent razors out there with that issue. That's why honing isn't for the person just trying to learn to shave. Creates too many problems to deal with all at once. It's rare to find a perfectly true razor. The majority of them have their little idiosyncrasies.
Mick
Glad you are enjoying it. My first brush was a cheapo from boots I think, and I just bought a cheap bristle brush for.when I travel, that way I don't have to care if it doesn't dry properly and.goes manky eventually. And don't underestimate palmolives shaving soap and cream.
Ideally you would be playing records as opposed to CD's. Or listening to the radio, but definately via.a valve amp.
