Thanked: 0Hello from Indiana
Hello All,
I have been using a straight now for about 2 months. I have in my inventory a Robeson(Robeson"s Best) and a Shumate. I just purchased a G. Baker & Sons #1141 it has Damascus etched on the blade. I can not find much information about this maker. The blade says made in Germany. It has a nude lady and the scale has been repaired near the tang pin. I hope to clean it up sharpen and see how it shaves. Any way just wanted to say hi and look forward to reading more of the posts and learn from all of you.
Thank
Bobo

Welcome in
That Shumate should clean up well from what I can see in the pictures.
It should turn out to be a fine shaver, I don't own one but have honed a few.
Keep us updated on the progress and as always feel free to pose any questions you have to the community.

Thanked: 0Pat,
The Shumate I have is a tungsteel black scales. The one in the picture is a G. Baker & Sons the blade says made in Germany. I can not find any information on this G Baker razor. Did they make razors for Shumate?
Thanks

My bad on that Bobo,
Is it a G. Baker or J. Baker?
Many companies Imported and or had blades manufactured with their name on them.
I will see what I can turn up and one of our gent's that does some great research on the historical side might chime in.It is just Whisker Whacking
