    Default Greetings from MN

I just started on straights about 2-3 weeks ago, when I picked up a 'sight unseen' blade from Whipped Dog. We have a member of a forum I hang at (not a shaving forum) that was into straights, and I had been somewhat interested in it already so I just picked up the one from WD -

    Sight unseen Imperial -

I've been working at it, and like everyone else I'm sure made several discoveries on how to shave with one of these things. Clearly watching someone who's done it for years on a video isn't the same as putting one of these things to your face.

Not long after I started, there was a charity auction at another shaving forum. I ended up getting a nice blade from that event while being able to contribute to the bottom line for charity -

Sue's auction Fritz Bracht era Dovo -

It wasn't all that long before I had stopped using my DE to finish the shave, and went to full time straights. I still have problem areas that never get as smooth as I could with my DE, and I still end up with the odd leak now and again, but I'll get it done.

Anyway - I've been lurking here for a bit, and thought it was about time to say hey.

    Hey.

    Randy

Welcome to THE shaving forum SRP. Other than reading all the Wiki's you can, ask, ask, ask on just about any subject and there will be many answers coming your way.

    Welcome from a fellow Minnesotan!

There are quite a few of us on SRP. If you want some local help learning honing or anything else related to wetshaving, I'm sure there's someone near your location that can help you out.

    Welcome Randy

You will eventually be able to get as smooth if not smoother than your DE.

    Thanks guys.

At this point most my problems are based on coordination. (or lack of it)

I'm sure I'll be looking for help though - especially when it comes time to consider learning how to hone these things. I mean ... I can't just keep buying new blades forever.

    Hmmmm ... or can I?

    Thanks Dave.

I already do like that Imperial. Quite a bit actually. It may not be as pretty as some others, but it sure can mow down the whiskers.

    Thanks for dropping the name.
