    Default Hi

Hello. I'm from England and I bought a straight-razor a few weeks ago. I've never been able to properly reach a spot under my chin and it's irritated me to no end! Plus, Straight razors are just cool. I've also never paid for my own razorblades (stolen them from my dad) but now that I have finished university and will be getting a job, I'm really not looking forward for paying obscene amounts for disposable blades.

    Anyway, hi.

Welcome to SRP! Maybe you will be able to pay your Dad back someday, with a blade of his own. Or make it a Father & Son journey...
I got my Dad to switch to DE's but haven't convinced him to try a straight. He's retiring in a little over a year, so he may have more time on his hands
As far as saving money this sport is adddictive.....you can't just have one

Hi, and welcome, when you get some questions feel free to ask, and straight shaving doesn't have to be expensive either.

    Welcome
Yes it's possible to save money on SR shaving as long as you don't buy things that you don't really need, which is very easy to do since there is so many things you want to try

    Yup, need versus want.
I consider that you will need:
1 stick of soap (under $2)
1 shaving brush (from as little as $6)
1 basic strop (dont know exactly but I think they can be had for $30 or less)
1 shave ready razor ($30 up)
You may want another razor for when your first requires honing.
You may want pre and or post shave products (cheap moisturisers work post shave, and pre shave oils can be made for very little)
You may want aftershave ($10 up)
Then there are all the upgrades from the basics.
You may want to hone your razors again this can be expensive or relatively cheap. Note the relatively.
