Default Howdy from Cajun Country, USA

    Howdy y'all,
I'm from South-central Louisiana and am beginning to play around making knives. I've always had an interest in straight razors as well and thought I'd see if I can turn a few bars of steel into straight razor shaped objects. Mostly here to learn and pick up ideas. I train horses and give horsemanship clinics and lessons for a living. Hope to learn a lot and possibly contribute a little.

    Welcome to SRP!

the difference between a razor and a razor shaped object is quality steel and a proper heat treatment.

start with learning how to shave with a normal production (new or vintage) before trying to make your own so that the blade geometry, weight and balance will all make sense to you.

    enjoy,
