    Red face Hello from Maine!

I'm a firefighter/EMT in the great state of Maine and looking to get started with this "new" way to shave. I am very much looking forward to mastering the techniques needed to shave with a straight razor. I'm planning on taking a trip to Boston and visiting the art of shaving on Newbury ST. I'm looking to buy their Full shaving kit along with the Stainless TI and a strop and other basic equipment from what I've read on this forum and other similar sites. Again I look forward to hearing from those mrs experienced and would welcome any advice.

Hi and welcome. Most factory edges are not shave ready. Make sure the razor is hand honed. Watch the vids and do heaps of reading and you should start on the right track. Good luck. Ed

Hello and welcome, and for the second time in about 5 minutes I agree with eddy.
Once you get all of your gear, you will no doubt have a heap of questions which we will do our best to answer.
In the meantime check out the wiki and some of the beginners threads, you will notice a lot of similar questions and responses, so this might help you to be a bit prepared for when you start using your new equipment.
And if you are so inclined you can practice stropping with a belt and a butterknife.
    All the best
    Ed.
