Howdy from Oklahoma
Greetings.
I've been a DE shaver for a few years now and have enjoyed a daily chore transforming into my morning "moment of zen". I began DE shaving with the intent of moving on to straight razors so I'm pulling the trigger. I intend to ease the transition much as I did when I went from the plastic, multi-bladed, face-whacker to a DE. It's become a Christmas tradition for the kids to give daddy his shaving stuff. My razor, strop and DVD are on order from a vendor I found on this site. I'm as anxious as my kids for Christmas morning. I'll let you know how it goes. See you around the forums.

BJ,
Welcome to the forum!!
Glad you signed up and in. If you haven't looked over the forum yet, there's a lot of stuff here to read and watch. The Library (wiki) is linked above just under the SRP logo and contains lots of great info. The search function to the right side of the page from the Library is a quick access to lots of answers. If you can't find an answer or just need help, ask away!! There are a ton of good folks here ready to help.
When you get close to that 1st shave there are two links below in my signature line that will be very beneficial.
Glad to have another Okie on the forum, and if I can ever help, let me know. You can contact any member by clicking on their user name and then follow the links to "Private Message" PM's.
Enjoy the forum, and a Merry Christmas to you and the family!!
Best Regards,
HowardLast edited by SirStropalot; 12-02-2013 at 04:53 AM.

Welcome aboard
SirStropalot covered a chunk.
With the DE shaving under your belt you have the beard prep down and that will help immensely.
Take your time, enjoy the journey, feel free to ask any questions you have, and I hope to see you around on the forum.

Welcome, you could if you are so inclined, get a butterknife and a belt and.practice your stropping technique, it will mean you can concentrate on just shaving, and have reasonable assurance that you should be keeping the blade in reasonable condition.

Thanked: 1936Howdy from the Hugo, OK area. We are glad to have you and hope we can help your straight shaving journey be a successful one. If you have an opportunity, you should meet up with another Okie. There is sooo much you can learn in a couple hours of face to face that it would take months to learn by trial and error with reading.
Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and God Bless, Scott
